Ciett welcomes the recommendations putforward by the G20 Labour and Employment ministers at their meeting held on 20-21 April, and calls on the policy makers meeting at the G20 summit in June to recognise the role that the agenc work market can play in boosting employment and producing a better functioning labour market.

Governments, global employers and trade unions jointly agree to call for urgent ratification of ILO Convention 181 to boost employment (26/10/09)
Governments, global employers and trade unions have jointly agreed to urge ILO Member States for further ratifications of Convention 181 to help boost global employment at a time of economic crisis. This decision was reached at a tripartite conference organised by the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Geneva on 21 and 22 October to promote its Convention 181 on private employment agencies.

Ciett Corporate Members and UNI Global Union launch global dialogue on temporary agency work (12/11/08)
UNI Global Union and Ciett Corporate Members (Adecco, Kelly Services, Manpower, Olympia Flexgroup, Randstad and USG People) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to create partnership and a global social dialogue to achieve fair conditions for the temporary agency work industry and the 9 million a day temporary agency workers around the world. The signatories recognise that the temporary agency work industry - with a global turnover of €228bn - contributes to improve the functioning of labour markets and aims at complementing other forms of employment. Both parties support the establishment of an appropriate regulatory framework for the industry to promote decent forms of temporary agency work.

Horacio De Martini elected Ciett President and Fred van Haasteren Ciett Vice-President (03/11/08)
Members of the international confederation of private employment agencies (Ciett) have elected Horacio De Martini, Regional Director for Manpower Inc. South America, as their new president for the next three years (2008-2011). Ciett members have also elected Fred van Haasteren, Randstad Holding’s Executive Vice-President and chair of the Board of Randstad Group The Netherlands, as the new Vice-President of the Confederation. His term will run from 2008 to 2011. Both De Martini and van Haasteren have long time experience within the staffing industry. They have also served as member of the Ciett Board for more than 15 years.

Ciett launches its new website (30-01-07)
A new website (www.ciett.org) and online platform of the agency work industry in the world has been launched today by the International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies. Ciett is the international body representing the agency work industry, gathering 36 national federations and the 6 largest, multinational staffing companies worldwide. Following the adoption of a new corporate identity, Ciett has revamped its website and enlarged the presentation of corporate and public affairs.

Reconciling labour flexibility and job security should be at the center of any regulatory framework on agency work (17-05-06)
At the occasion of the Ciett 2007 annual conference, Annemarie Muntz, President of Eurociett, reminded national and European policy makers that any regulatory framework on Agency Work should provide a fair balance between the need to protect agency workers and the necessity to enhance the positive role that private employment agencies play in the European labour market.

The International Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (Ciett) has named Joel Biller, senior vice president of special projects for Manpower Inc., as its president for the next four years.
